The Ghost of Spring the Wino (New Song)

Vallejo
{note--I got inspired with this hanging out in downtown charlottesville monday. been working on and off on the words and music ever since. " mystical russian feeling--though vaugely baroque in parts, and in a spanish guitar type format" is the only way I can decribe the music at the moment. I don't know if that helps at all. The picture above is of Cesar Vallejo, the person referred to in the song, whose poetry and spirit seemed to be somehow a part of the vision and feeling that the song and music describe.--i-p}

Dust of the Spirit rises on the wind
the wind has smiled
the wind is saving me
a musty glory, urban, sad, and light
and I didn't know that I was sobbing

I didn't even know where I was then
skull painted pink
thought carbornated, thin
a gritty fluid joy flavored with tears
but I understood that spring was coming

Bridge:

not quite coming
here
too soon to be reborn
but last years
spring
lost lingering forlorn
on public stairs
wine-tainted air
stale joy blessed by light
great ugliness redeemed by light...

redeemed by light...

sobs slant at angles surgically precise
Vallejo sits
eyes stung by wedding rice
ghost of a stone upon a ghost of stone
and the dusty warm wind jousts and gibbers

Love is perpendicular of Light
afternoon light
tangent of miracles
the sum of glory; ghost, warm wind and light
and the sacrificial drunk is holy...

I-P,

I am intrigued … .

>>>mystical russian feeling–though vaugely baroque in parts, and in a spanish guitar type format<<<

to say the least.  wish I could listen to it here.  I have a weakness for spanish guitar.

Will have to try and learn a bit more about Cesar Vallejo, he appears so intense in your photo.

I would post a recording if I knew how. my computer will record little snippits of things but I dont know how to post them online yet. there is famous poem by vallejo that i refer to in the song. you can find it here: http://poetrymagazine.org/magazine/0408/poem_181332.html, though I wish I had the patience to hunt around for a better translation…Vallejo and Lorca are probably my favorite spanish speaking poets…thanks for your comment…
